1. Get Your Talent Show Tickets – and Enter Our Raffle

All Sulphur Springs families – as well as friends – of performers are invited to attend our Sulphur Springs Has Got Talent variety show on Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26, at 5:30pm (until approximately 7:00pm) in the MPR at school.

There is no cost for entrance to the show, but space is limited and tickets are required.  We are requesting financial donations to help us cover the costs of putting on a show.  (While our volunteers have graciously donated their personal time and effort, we still have to pay to use the space at school, not to mention buying supplies for sets, software to help with seamless music transitions, hands-free microphones for performers, light trees, etc.)  We are asking for $5 per person or $10 per family to help us cover these expenses.

You can purchase tickets here:  https://www.sspta.org/collections/events

Prices will increase after Wednesday, April 24, to $10 on-site.

You can also pre-purchase raffle tickets to have a chance to win exciting prizes.  (See our Sales Flyer – attached – for sample prizes.  If you have any questions about raffle prize items – or if you would like to donate a raffle prize item – please contact Rose Carradine McGee at 661-644-7779.)

Raffle tickets are available:  $1 for 1.    $3 for 5.     $5 for 10.

You can purchase raffle tickets here:  https://www.sspta.org/collections/events

Raffle tickets will be on sale on-site as well, cash only.

And we will have limited snacks available on-site for purchase with cash as well.

2. You Can Still Be IN the Talent Show!

Sulphur Springs’ Got Talent is seeking performers, crew, and volunteers!

If your student wants to be in the variety show and they were able to attend our audition day nor the first week of rehearsals, then they must attend rehearsal this Monday, April 22, 3:15-4:15pm in the MPR – and they must register by completing the permission slip, turning in any music (ideally edited to the length they need), and being show-ready.

  • Music and permission forms can be submitted to garylaramore@gmail.com.

  • Questions should be addressed to Rose Carradine McGee at 661-644-7779.

We are especially looking for students to join our variety show who can play an instrument.  We do have a piano on site, and it has recently been tuned. If your student plays and wants to be in the show, come Monday to rehearsals with the song you would like to play and your instrument (or plan to use the school’s piano).

If your 5th or 6th grader is interested in leadership, filming, editing, lighting or backstage crew, then they can be part of our production team.  We are happy to train any interested students.  They do need to attend rehearsal on Monday and turn in their completed and signed permission slip.

Please remember that all students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when on the Sulphur Springs campus after school hours.

If you have a 7th or 8th grader who was in the variety show last year or who has a sibling in the show this year, they may be part of our production team.  Please contact Rose Carradine McGee at 661-644-7779 for details on how to register them.

We are looking for a parent and or a parent-student team that can run our sound board – we have someone who can train you!

We are also looking for adult volunteers to help put on the show.  From filming, lighting, running our spotlight, managing students between acts (in “holding”) or helping with ticket sales and concessions, or assisting with makeup and hair.

For students who would like to participate but who have a talent that does not translate well to the stage, we are offering alternative participation formats – videos or still art that will be displayed from a projector onto a screen on the stage in the MPR during the talent show.

  • Video submissions need to be two (2) minutes or less, appropriate material for an elementary school audience, and sent on a flash drive.  Video submissions can be a short film you made at home – for example:  a cooking tutorial or a special skill or talent you can't show on stage.

Please note:  If your student’s talent is something that they are able to do on stage, then we would prefer to have them participate on stage with the rest of our cast.  If your student needs accommodations in order to be a part of the show, our goal is to make the variety show accessible to all students.  To discuss your student’s specific needs, please call or text Rose Carradine McGee at 661-644-7779.

  • Art submissions can be a video of your student doing art or an art tutorial or just video of their art with music or with them speaking about the piece.  Still art (JPG or PDF) will also be accepted.  Please send your still art or video (two (2) minutes or less, with 30-seconds per piece being a recommended time allotment) on a flash drive.  Be sure to include the name of the artist, the name of the artwork, and a brief description.

  • Video and Art submissions must be turned in before rehearsal THIS MONDAY, BEFORE 3:15pm.  (Sooner is better!)

If you or your student would like to be involved in any way, please come to the MPR THIS MONDAY, immediately after school, 3:15-4:15PM and/or call or text Rose Carradine McGee at 661-644-7779.

Please note:  All cast, crew, and volunteers in the variety show will be videotaped, and pictures may be taken for PTA historical purposes.  If you have any issues with your image being recorded and shared in a DVD or on social media or the school yearbook, please let Rose Carradine McGee know during rehearsal or by calling or texting her at 661-644-7779.

The variety show is still accepting donations.  Our most urgent needs can be found here:  https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1460T272VSUPA?ref=cm_sw_em_r_un_un_tqApnGnIXxpVB.  Please note our dress rehearsal is Wednesday; it would be great to have any purchases before then!

We are also interested in donations of construction materials to build sets over the summer.  If you are able to provide donations of 2x4s, plywood, paint, etc., please let us know (Rose - 661-644-7779, Gary - garylaramore@gmail.com, or the PTA President – President@sspta.org).
