Week 39 - June 2 - PTA Newsletter

Dear Sulphur Springs Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for another wonderful year.  It has been my honor to serve as your PTA President for the past two school years, and I hope you have enjoyed all the activities and events we sponsored, funded, provided, and championed.

Next year’s board is already hard at work planning for a fun start to the school year.  You will find their contact information below.  If you would like to get more involved, please reach out.  We have a number of open positions available (like Membership and Hospitality), and we are always seeking help in others (like Communications).  We may also have room in the Secretary role if anyone is interested in joining the board and taking notes at meetings.  We also have chairperson/ leadership roles open for several events (like Reflections Art Show and Contest, Welcome Back BBQ, Recycling, Trunk or Treat, Spirit Wear, Sweetheart Breakfast, etc.), and we’re also looking for people who just like to help once all the planning is done.  We won’t make you be in charge if you don’t want to do that, but we love to know who our helpers are.

Don’t be strangers!  We can’t wait to see you again.

Sincerely,

Jessica Coleman

SSPTA President, 2022-2023, 2023-2024

3. Open Position Descriptions for Next Year’s PTA

We have several leadership roles available for the next school year.  Please contact Kim or Chrystal (see above for their contact information) if you’d like to learn more or to sign up.

If you’re sort of interested but don’t want to commit to taking the lead role, please do let us know.  We can make sure you’re on our interested volunteers list for that event.  We can also pair you up with someone else who’s sort-of-interested if you might want to share the role.

  • Secretary (Officer Position on the PTA Board – to take notes at Board and Association meetings and prepare minutes)

  • Membership Chairperson (to answer questions from families about membership; to create a theme and advertise all that our PTA does)

  • Hospitality Chairperson (to provide snacks at meetings and to help with a feeling of welcome at all our events)

  • Volunteer Coordinator (to help the VP of Programs with contacting volunteers who are interested in participating and getting them organized)

  • Communications (to help write the weekly newsletter and make sure our message is getting where it needs to go – for social media, morning announcements, the website)

  • Room Parent Coordinator (to provide guidance to all our room parents so the kids in every class can have the best room parent experience possible!)

  • Welcome Back BBQ Volunteers (to work with the Board to welcome new families to our school and to welcome back returning families with a meal and fun activities)

  • Reflections Chairperson (to advertise the art contest, arrange for judges and awards, and put together the party to celebrate all our participants and winners)

  • Trunk or Treat Chairperson (to collect candy and organize families to host themed trunks and/or games)

  • Recycling Chairperson (to organize drop-off days and transport bottles and cans to the local recycling center)

  • Spirit Wear Chairperson (to coordinate any new designs and to help families and staff order Mustang/Sulphur Springs items)

  • Sweetheart Breakfast Chairperson (to organize donations and volunteers for a small breakfast, maybe a photo op with cute props – on February 14)

You don’t have to commit now, but we would LOVE to hear if you are interested in helping out.  Some groups might want to get a head start over the summer!

Please reach out to Kim or Chrystal with any questions or to express your interest.
