  1. List of Volunteer Needs

We have an immediate need for volunteers in the following areas. If you are available and would like to donate your time, regardless of the amount, please reach out to the contact listed:

  1. 👕 **Show Your School Spirit with Spirit Wear!** - Deadline 09/04

Final notice! All orders must be placed by 09/04, so don’t delay! Our students love having their Mustang Pride wear for the spirit assemblies, to show their school pride. Orders are expected to be delivered to school before Fall Break and will be sent home with students. (If you would like to make alternative delivery arrangements, please contact our President, Jessica Coleman at president@sspta.org.) While there may be another ordering period, we do not anticipate it being until Spring. https://www.stepinhouse.com/product-category/sulphur-springs-elementary-23-24/

  1. Restaurant Night – Scooters Jungle (09/20)

Mark your calendars for a night of family fun and community spirit! Join us on September 20th, from 5:30 to 7:30pm, for our first SSPTA Restaurant Night of the year – at Scooter's Jungle. Get ready to bounce, laugh, and enjoy quality time with fellow Sulphur families while supporting our school. As the kids revel in the excitement of the inflatables, families can enjoy food, drinks, and engaging  conversations that strengthen our school community. This event is more than just a night out – it's a chance to come together, create memories, and show our support for our students. Let's make this evening unforgettable and show the power of our PTA in action!

More details will be released in the next newsletter and a flyer will be sent home after Labor Day with your student.

  1. Reflections (Art Show and Contest) – Deadline 10/06

Reflections registration is open! An informational flyer was sent home last week with your student(s), including a link to the online application packet, which includes requirements for each of the categories of art that may be submitted (Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts) and which highlights this year’s theme: I am HOPEFUL because….

Please note:  The theme must be incorporated in each piece of art, and students are required to explain how their art relates to the theme.  If participating in the contest portion of this event, around one-third of the judges scoring specifically focuses on how well the artwork expresses the theme.

If you have any questions or if you would like to request a paper copy of the application packet, please contact our Chairperson Claudia Pineda (klaudette26@gmail.com). There will also be an informational and Q&A Zoom meeting, in English and in Spanish, coming soon. If you would like to participate in either of those meetings, please contact Claudia.

Reflections submissions should be turned into the front office; the deadline for consideration is Friday, October 6th. All artworks will be displayed around campus, and there will be a celebration and awards ceremony on October 19th. Register your student today! The flyer is available on ParentSquare (instructions below in item #7).

  1. Save the Date: Mustang Roundup (10/07)

Get ready to saddle up for an incredible night of fun at the much-awaited Mustang Roundup, coming your way on October 7, 2023, from 6 PM to 10 PM at River’s End in Canyon Country. This adults-only affair is more than just an event; it's a rollercoaster ride of laughter, excitement, unforgettable moments. It is our largest fundraiser of the year and allows us to fund most of our programs for the school year, ensuring that each student has an opportunity for enrichment and fun. Our Auctioneer/ MC, Benjamin Serio will guide you through a live and silent auction brimming with incredible treasures waiting for your bids. Prepare yourself for a fun wine and liquor pull; whether you decide to share it with friends or keep it all to yourself, the most important thing is to have a wonderful time savoring the experience. Before you dance the night away to the Future X-Husbands, your taste buds will be treated to a mouthwatering BBQ feast that's nothing short of legendary. Yummy desserts will leave you dreaming for more from Gigi’s Sweethearts. With ice-cold beer, a tantalizing selection of non-alcoholic beverages, and a welcoming atmosphere, the Mustang Roundup is your ticket to an evening of pure exhilaration. Plus, it benefits our kids! Ticket prices go up $10 after 09/08 and all ticket sales will close after October 2, 2023. There will be no ticket sales at the door. Mark your calendars, rally your posse, and gear up for a night you won't want to miss!

You will find additional details about the food options, what your ticket includes, additional rules and information, overnight parking, and dry camping ($30/nt) available at the link above.

  • SSPTA is looking for donations for the live and silent auction: any kind of product, service, or experience that you, or someone you know, would be willing to contribute. If you have a donation in mind, please contact our co-chairs Victoria Skornia or Jennifer Salinas, and they will arrange a pick-up or other details.
  • We are also looking for volunteers: to help solicit and pick up donations, to set up the day of the event, and to help during the event with the raffle(s), auctions, check in, and cleanup. A sign-up genius will be shared, or you can reach out to our event chairs to communicate your interest and availability. Any time you can give to the event will be very much appreciated!

Our event co-chairs can be reached for event questions, food choice options, donations, volunteer opportunities, etc.: Victoria Skornia (victoria.skornia@gmail.com) and Jennifer Salinas (jennifermsalinas@gmail.com).

As seen on Facebook groups, Santa Clarita Foodies and Acton/Agua Dulce REAL Community News: Rivers End is located at 13130 Soledad Canyon Rd, just up the road in Bee Canyon. It was originally an RV park but has since grown into an amazing outdoor event space, one that is truly beautiful and captures the essence of our local community, surrounded by trees, a creek, and a pub that serves mouthwatering food, non-alcoholic drinks including non-alcoholic beer, and draft and bottled beer, ciders, and seltzers—and it’s within about 5 minutes from our school!

  1. Yearbook Sales

Yearbooks for the current school year are on sale now! Each image, every caption, and all those candid moments encapsulate a year's worth of growth, laughter, and shared experiences. The yearbook isn't just a book; it's a vessel that holds a piece of each of us, a time capsule of friendships and achievements. Don't miss out on the chance to hold these memories in your hands – secure your student’s copy of the yearbook today for only $20 with custom personalization to ensure that the echoes of this year resonate for a lifetime.

The deadline for free personalization is January 1, 2024; then the price increases to $25. We’ve received inquiries from multiple people regarding personalization. There is a small amount of space for text on the cover, 2 lines of approximately 15 characters each, ex: name, grade, etc. Please keep in mind we cannot accommodate special punctuation, and we do not have control over the line break.

A flyer was sent home last week with a QR code to purchase, you can access the flyer on ParentSquare (instructions below in item #7), or you can purchase here: https://www.sspta.org/collections/yearbook
